Collective bargaining underway
The 2025 round of collective bargaining is underway.
UBC’s approach to bargaining is consistent with the spirit and intent of the vision and principles outlined in Shaping UBC’s Next Century: UBC’s Strategic Plan and UBC’s Strategic Directions 2025-2030. UBC is committed to reaching negotiated collective agreements that support the university’s vision, strategic plan, and commitments to Indigeneity, equity, and wellbeing.
Staff bargaining has commenced with CUPE 116, CUPE 2278, CUPE 2950, IUOE 115, BCGEU (UBCO), and AAPS and is at various stages of progress. Discussion and dialogue at all tables has been constructive and respectful and tentative agreement has been reached on a broad range of issues.
The Faculty Association and the University started bargaining on May 6, 2025, have met a total of 17 times since then and most recently on December 9, 2025. The vast majority of proposals have been exchanged, as well as many counter-proposals. Discussions have been constructive and we have reached tentative agreement on a number of proposals, contingent on reaching a full agreement. No further meeting dates have yet been set for 2026.
