Memo: Get active by taking part in the virtual Staff & Faculty Sports Week

The following message is shared on behalf of Marcia Buchholz, Vice-President, Human Resources to all faculty and staff at UBC.

At UBC, we recognize the foundational importance of wellbeing to our success as individuals, as a university, and as a community.

As part of this commitment, UBC Human Resources and UBC Athletics & Recreation are pleased to invite you to participate in the virtual Staff & Faculty Sports Week from May 3-7 2021. This free event is open to all UBC faculty and staff.

You are encouraged to take a break during the virtual Sports Week and be a part of this fun event designed to boost physical and mental health, and build social connections. Most Sports Week activities require less than 30 minutes, with some activities taking place during regular work hours, and others being offered outside of these hours. All activities are designed to accommodate diverse working and living situations, and adhere to public health guidelines.

If you are a supervisor/manager at UBC, please encourage those in your unit/department to take part as a team or individually in activities of their choice during Sports Week, and consider signing up too. Faculty and staff are reminded to discuss participation in activities during work hours with their supervisor.

You can sign-up as a team or as an individual: https://recreation.ubc.ca/sportsday/register/

Register for Sports Week by April 26, 2021, as space is limited!

Virtual volunteer opportunities are also available to support Sports Week activities and scoring teams. These opportunities are open to high school students, university students, staff or faculty. To sign up as volunteer, visit: http://www.recreation.ubc.ca/sportsday/volunteer/.

If you have any questions, email sports.day@ubc.ca

I hope you and your colleagues are able to take the time to be part of this fun week!

Marcia Buchholz
Vice-President, Human Resources
