As of August 24, 2026, the CUPE 2950 Professional Development (PD) Fund has reopened for claim submissions for the 2026/27 funding year, April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027.
An additional $100,000 has been added to the fund as part of the renewed collective agreement between UBC and CUPE 2950. The fund previously closed on July 16, 2026, after all available funding had been fully committed due to exceptionally high claim activity.
Eligible CUPE 2950 staff may once again submit PD Fund claims in Workday while funding remains available.
Funding will be available for a limited time
The CUPE 2950 PD Fund is a shared funding pool and is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Based on claim activity earlier this year and previous funding trends, the additional $100,000 may be fully committed within a matter of weeks. However, the actual timing will depend on the volume and value of claims submitted.
Once the additional funding is fully committed, the CUPE 2950 PD Fund will close again for the remainder of the 2026/27 funding year.
Staff considering a PD-related purchase should check the current overall fund balance and review the claim instructions on the Staff Professional Development Funding page before making a purchase or submitting a claim.
The overall fund balance will be updated regularly to support staff planning. Funding is not guaranteed until a claim has been submitted, reviewed and approved in Workday.
Funding amount
Eligible employees may claim up to $1,400 in PD funding for the 2026/27 funding year, while overall funds remain available. For employees who work less than half-time, the maximum claim amount is prorated.
Next funding year
The CUPE 2950 PD Fund will reset on April 1, 2027.
