Sterling background check request process now in Workday

The method to request a Sterling background check during the hiring process is now in Workday.

Some positions at the university require a background check due to the nature of work performed.

The process for requesting a background check through UBC’s external provider, Sterling Backcheck, now exists in Workday via new checkpoints throughout the Recruitment or Direct Hire process – this takes the form of questionnaires asked during the hiring process in Workday. This gives hiring managers the opportunity to formally identify and confirm whether a certain position requires a background check, specifically with Sterling Backcheck.

If a Sterling Backcheck is selected, certain new tasks will be generated in Workday for hiring managers and HR administrators. Note that there is a fee for conducting Sterling Backchecks.

For further guidance on Background Checks at UBC, including types, process, and determining if your position requires one, visit the Background Checks page (CWL required). Find full details and links to relevant UBC HR and Workday Knowledge Base resources on Workday This Week.
