On October 10, we recognize World Mental Health Day. On this day, let us all take a moment to reflect on the importance of mental health and wellbeing in our community.
This year’s theme for World Mental Health Day seeks to shine a light on Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies. UBC is home to a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff from across the globe—there are many in our community who are feeling the emotional and psychological impacts of ongoing natural disasters, conflicts, and public health emergencies around the world. Access to timely care is essential for wellbeing and recovery during challenging times and beyond.
On World Mental Health Day, we encourage you to explore resources that can help us support one another in building a supportive and connected community. Knowing where to find mental health support and resources today can make a real difference in emergency situations
Mental health resources for faculty and staff
Take time to learn about the resources available to you and your colleagues. Share resources, spark conversations, and help foster a culture where mental health is valued and supported every day.
And as the fall semester progresses and October turns to November, we also look ahead to Thrive—UBC’s annual mental health literacy campaign featured throughout the month. Make sure you follow @ubcwellbeing and visit thrive.ubc.ca to stay connected and informed.
