About this workshop:

Workplace stress can be triggered by many sources: heavy workloads, tight timelines, or difficult co-workers. When combined with the pressures and responsibilities we all have outside of work, it is no wonder that employees may experience high levels of stress throughout their daily routines. Left unaddressed, stress can lead to challenges at work and has the potential to turn into a major mental or physical health concern. This workshop will teach participants how to effectively manage stress for optimal health, wellbeing, and workplace productivity.

Hosted by Dr. Ellen Choi, throughout this session you will engage in a number of helpful stress relieving techniques including practice noticing thoughts, feelings, actions, and perhaps most importantly, sensations in your body to understand your stress response. You will learn how to identify nervous system regulation and dysregulation by recognizing the different types of habitual (compulsive) behaviours you engage in when you're at peace versus stressed and depleted. Finally, you will also explore the fundamental psychological needs many of us have and learn how self-compassion practices can be used to soothe the nervous system when thoughts take on a mind of their own.

Important notes:

  • The session will be recorded and the slides will be shared.
  • There will be optional breakout room activities.
  • Closed captioning can be enabled.
