Eligibility and enrolment

UBC offers an extensive benefits program for our employees and their eligible dependents.

As a new member of UBC’s faculty and staff, you need to enrol in the benefits program for your specific employee group. This will give you access to a range of benefits and programs to support your health and wellbeing.

Need help enrolling? Take a look at our Benefits Enrolment Guide.

Once you have enrolled in your benefits package and set up your payroll, you will want to:

  • Confirm your benefits enrolment through Workday, where you can also view your personal and payroll information in a secure online environment.
  • Set up your access to the Sun Life Member Website, mysunlife.ca once Sun Life receives your enrolment. You will not be able to set up access to the Sun Life Member Website or receive reimbursement for claims until Sun Life’s system is updated with your enrolment information which can take up to five to seven days. Sun Life administers your Extended Health and Dental plans, and by setting up access to your account you can sign up for direct deposit, submit many claims and view details about your benefits.

We’re here to help!

To speak with the UBC Benefits Team, review the benefits contact information.

Coverage Start & End Dates

This page describes when your coverage for specific UBC benefits will begin and end, assuming that you are eligible for the benefit.

Employee Groups

Benefits available to you depend on your UBC Employee Group. Search for your employee group to find out more information.

Enrolling in Benefits

Through Workday, you can complete all your required enrolments in one sitting, in a secure, web-based environment.

After you enrol in benefits

Once you have completed the benefits enrolment process in Workday, it is time to get the most out of your benefits.

Making Enrolment Changes

You can make changes to your UBC Benefit plan, including: updating your personal information, changing or adding beneficiaries and dependents, and changing the amount of coverage you carry for optional benefits.
