Announcing the Managing Director, Faculty Relations and Support Services

We are very pleased to announce that Doug Thorpe-Dorward has accepted the role as Managing Director, Faculty Relations and Support Services, effective April 27, 2020.

Doug is an experienced labour lawyer and workplace investigator whose career highlights include: Executive Director, Faculty Relations, Simon Fraser University; Chief Staff Officer of the SFU Faculty Association; Board Member of the Parole Board of Canada; Membership Services Officer for the Academic Staff Association, University of Alberta; and legal counsel to the BC Teacher’s Federation.

This is an expanded role in the Human Resources leadership team. The Managing Director, Faculty Relations and Support Services oversees both Faculty Relations and Housing & Relocation Services, working closely with Mark Trowell, Director, Faculty Relations and Siobhan Murphy, Director, Housing & Relocation Services.

We thank the search committee comprised of faculty and staff who were engaged in this recruitment process. We would also like to acknowledge Allison Matacheskie, who will stay on for the month of May to assist with Doug’s onboarding to the University.
