We are thrilled to share the incredible success of the 2024 Pick Your Peak Stair Challenge!
Participants from across UBC came together to showcase their remarkable enthusiasm and dedication to summit an astounding 831,888 flights of stairs. To put that into perspective, that’s the equivalent of scaling Mount Everest 214 times (roughly! We haven’t done a rigorous analysis with teams measuring distances in the Himalayas to validate this claim).
Highlights from the Challenge
- Record participation: This year, we reached new heights with 89 teams and 65 individual climbers, totalling a record-breaking 597 participants!
- Climbers from across campuses: We had climbers from the Point Grey and Okanagan campuses, as well as Robson Square, Vancouver General Hospital, and St. Paul’s Hospital.
- Okanagan Campus Engagement: We were delighted to see 103 participants from the Okanagan Campus join the challenge.
- Move U Crew Walks: On the Vancouver Campus, 30 participants took part in Move U Crew walks.
