Meditation with Aisha: 10 minutes for 10 days online mindfulness challenge
Winter cohort starts: December 9, 2020

Start off your morning with 10 minutes of mindfulness for 10 work days! These free and live sessions are open to all UBC staff and faculty looking to incorporate mindfulness into their morning routines to improve focus, manage stress, and increase feelings of connection towards others. Pet-ditate: Meditate with Aisha and your pet

Pets and mindfulness can both reduce stress and improve feelings of wellbeing. In these sessions we will be combining our pets and mindfulness in these 20-minute mindfulness sessions to deepen our connections with our pets and focus on the present moment. Through the lens: Deaf culture and awareness

The UBC Equity & Inclusion Office is excited to present another Through the Lens series. In this event Amar will discuss Deaf Culture, its impacts from his personal perspectives, and his life journey as Deaf person. Through the initiative he founded on Instagram, Sign With Amar, he will share the barriers in sign language, how the initiative overcomes them, and the perspectives on communication and accessibility. There will be a Q&A session at the end for audience questions. Learn more and register.

This free, innovative, evidence-based training is open to all UBC staff and faculty looking to incorporate mindfulness into the workplace and in their everyday lives. Content is delivered online via any device, and focuses on simple yet powerful and achievable learning objectives. After just 10 minutes a day for 30 consecutive days, participants will have the tools to be healthier, more productive and better able to problem-solve and work in a team. Learn more and register for the challenge now.

Our minds and bodies need rest and recovery breaks to allow us to relax and reduce the effects of stress. While everyone has days that are hectic and unfocused, consistently feeling stressed out, rushed, or on the go can have a detrimental impact on a person, increasing their risk of experiencing a serious physical concern, such as heart disease or stroke. The Working Mind for Managers
January 18, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

(both sessions are mandatory)

This training is for managers, supervisors, and team leads. Established by the Mental Health Commission of Canada, the Working Mind is an evidence-based training program designed to address and promote mental health and reduce stigma in a workplace setting. It includes scenario-based practical applications, custom videos of people with lived experience of mental illness, participant reference guides, and related handouts. Learn more and register now.
