Limited PD funding for Non-Union Technicians and Research Assistants for the remainder of 2025/26 fiscal year

As of June 23, 2025, approximately $30,000 remains in the Professional Development (PD) Fund for Non-Union Technicians and Research Assistants for this current fiscal year (April 1, 2025 – March 31, 2026).

This balance of this PD fund is expected to be exhausted by July 4, 2025 or sooner. Once the fund is depleted, no additional claims from staff in the Non-Union Technicians and Research Assistants employee group will be accepted or reimbursed through Workday for this current funding year.

The new funding year will reset and open again on April 1, 2026.

Before submitting a claim

Staff in this particular employee group should check the current balance of the PD fund pool and review the steps for accessing funding on the Staff PD Fund webpage before making any PD-related purchases or submitting claims in Workday. The funding pool balance is updated on a daily basis to help staff with their PD planning.

Funding overview

  • The PD Fund for Non-Union Technicians and Research Assistants is an annual pool of money distributed on a first-come, first-served basis each UBC fiscal year (April 1 through March 31).
  • It supports learning activities that will enhance a staff member’s ability to perform in their current role or contribute to their career growth at UBC.
  • Staff in this employee group can claim up to $1,000 in PD funding for the current fiscal year, provided overall funds remain available. If a staff member works less than half-time, the maximum claim amount is prorated.
