New BC minimum wage, effective June 1, 2025

The Government of British Columbia is increasing the provincial minimum wage, effective June 1, 2025.

UBC’s Integrated Service Centre (ISC) will automatically raise the hourly rate of any staff, faculty and hourly-paid student employees paid below the new minimum wage as of June 1, 2024, to the new rate of $17.85/hour in Workday.

If your faculty or department has salaried students (i.e. has a monthly rate), please ensure that their salary is at least equivalent to the minimum wage for the number of hours they work.

Moving forward, please ensure that all appointments are reflective of the new BC minimum wage.
