Happy New Year!
Despite many challenges in 2020, as faculty and staff at UBC, we accomplished a lot, and I am consistently amazed by the hard work and dedication of our colleagues. The importance of mental health and wellbeing, whether for yourself, family or community has not felt more acute. Even as we were asked to socially distance and be apart to keep each other safe, we have found creative ways to stay connected, and be resilient amid change and disruption. As we step into the new year, we can now see a path towards thriving, and not merely surviving.
This month, I encourage you to take a moment to look back on your accomplishments from 2020 by acknowledging the past and allowing yourself to look forward with hope.
Reflect
- What are you most proud of from 2020? Reflect on both work and personal life.
- Who invested in you this past year? Consider writing a thank you note.
Renew
- What can you do in each of these four core dimensions to support your wellbeing:
- Physically,
- Emotionally,
- Mentally,
- Spiritually?
Reset:
- Given how much you have strengthened your own resilience muscle over the last 12 months, think about what would you love to create or change or contribute over the next year that you never would have otherwise?
- What are you most excited for in 2021?
- Create a list of goals and things you would like to accomplish in 2021.
