In support of UBC’s commitment to workplace health and wellbeing, we are bringing back a unique professional development opportunity for UBC Vancouver and Okanagan faculty and staff: the Search Inside Yourself program.
Developed at Google and founded in neuroscience, Search Inside Yourself (SIY) will take place at 9 a.m. on February 22 via Zoom. SIY is a two- and half-hour training program that uses emotional intelligence and mindfulness to optimize performance, build leadership skills, and increase wellbeing.
The interactive program includes:
- An introduction to the neuroscience supporting mindfulness and emotional intelligence
- Foundational exercises to focus attention, calm the mind and develop emotional awareness
- Practical workplace applications to support participants in greater self-awareness and enhanced ability to respond to stress and challenge more deliberately
- A highly interactive experience with one-third a presentation and remaining time a series of hands-on exercises
- Taught by SIY-certified instructor: Belinda Chiu
The event is free and open to all staff and faculty at UBC Vancouver and Okanagan. Spots are limited and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
What previous participants reported in the post-training survey:
- 100% of participants would recommend the SIY program to a colleague
- Participants reported a 17% increase in self-awareness and 31% more participants reported that they feel that they can bounce back quickly after an emotionally challenging situation
- 88% of participants reported increased ability to remain calm in challenging situations
Secure your spot, before it is too late!
