Free Events This Month: June 2020

Online Healing Centered Yoga for Survivors & Allies | Tuesdays & Thursdays at 12:00 p.m.

Presented by the Sexual Violence Prevention and Response office at UBC, this slow, gentle Hatha Yoga class is designed specifically to assist survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, harm, or harassment. Focusing on breath and mental presence, this intentional movement can assist to forge a relationship with the body rooted in trust and self-empowerment. Learn more and register here.

Indigenous Peoples Month – Online community events

The Office of Indigenous Education is hosting a week of community events online in celebration of Indigenous Peoples Month. Daily sessions will be taking place from 15-19 June via Zoom, and are open to public.

Schedule: 

  1. Storytelling: Monday, June 15, 12:00-1:30pm
  2. Tea with Elders: Tuesday, June 16, 12:00-1:30pm
  3. Beading Circle: Wednesday, June 17, 12:00-1:30pm
  4. Baking, cooking, sharing: Thursday, June 18, 12:00-1:30pm
  5. Sharing: Song and creatives: Friday, June 19, 12:00-1:30pm

UBC Rec is bringing guided play and learning to your living room! They are offering your family free live streamed activity sessions on a variety of topics: art, science, nutrition, drama, wellness, enrichment and more. Positive Coping Strategies: Supporting Your Mental Health (facilitated webinar) | July 21 & 28, 2020

We all have go-to habits that we turn to in times of high stress or challenge, but are these habits working for you or against you?  In this session, you will have the opportunity to learn about concepts like resilience and coping while testing out coping practices that have been shown to support mental health and wellbeing.
