To facilitate the GWI process, users should complete or cancel any outstanding salary-related transactions in Workday by June 19.
Starting June 20, the 3% general wage increases (GWI) will begin to be applied for the following employee groups: AAPS-Management & Professional Staff, Non-Union Technicians & Research Assistants, Executive Administrative Staff and Farm Workers.
To facilitate the process, please complete or cancel any outstanding salary-related transactions in Workday by end of day, Wednesday, June 19. Salary-related transactions can include things like Compensation Change or Change Job. For all transactions entered or completed after June 19, the system will not automatically apply the GWI — please consider using the 2024 salary scales for transactions after this date. Note: when entering transactions into Workday, please document in your comments that your transaction is inclusive of the 3% GWI.
Transactions must be completed by end of day on June 19 to be included in the update process — any Pending (in-progress) transactions block the GWI transaction compensation changes and will result in departments being responsible for entering the GWI transactions after the in-progress transactions are completed.
The system work is scheduled to occur between June 20 – June 25. These increases will be reflected on the July 15 pay slips and have an effective date of July 1. Where possible we recommend departments do not enter new transactions during the processing window (June 20 – June 25). This will ensure that the data is accurate for employees and that transactions are loaded successfully.
Note: this update does not apply to BCGEU Okanagan employees, whose 3% GWI will be applied in early July.
Warning message in Workday
Note that a warning will appear on the Compensation business process in Workday for impacted groups (AAPS, Non-Union Tech, Farm Workers, Exec Admin) during this time.
The warning in Workday will read as follows:
“A GWI for this group is scheduled. Transactions submitted after or not completed by June 19 will not be automatically updated for the GWI.”
