Employment advertising exemption and Policy HR11

Employment Advertising Policy (HR11) and requesting exemptions

UBC's Employment Advertising Policy (HR11) outlines the requirements for posting and advertising available employment positions before selecting a candidate, as part of the recruitment process. In some circumstances, hiring managers may wish NOT to post a position — in these cases, an exemption can be requested, as outlined in Policy HR11.

The process for requesting an exemption involves completing and submitting the UBC Employment Advertising Waiver Request Form (HR11). The request form must be fully approved by the appropriate executive leader before any job offer is made to a prospective applicant. A copy of the approved waiver form must be attached in Workday when completing the appointment process.

For more information on requesting a waiver for posting or advertising a faculty position, please visit the Faculty advertising guidelines and templates page (CWL required).

For more information on requesting a waiver for posting or advertising a staff position, please visit the Advertising for positions page (CWL required).
