Reminder: Submit Your Extended Health, Dental & HSA Claims

Extended Health Claims Deadline

Any outstanding extended health claims with service or purchase dates between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2018, must be received by Sun Life no later than Dec. 31, 2019, for reimbursement consideration. To learn how to submit claims, please visit our Claims page.

Dental Claims Deadline

To be considered for reimbursement, dental claims must be received by Sun Life no later than one year from the date of service. For example, a dental claim dated Feb. 18, 2019, must be received by Sun Life no later than Feb. 17, 2020.

Health Spending Account (HSA) Claims Deadline and 2020 Credits

Note: The following information is for CUPE 2950, IUOE 115, Management & Professional (M&P), and CUPE 116 members only.

HSA Claims Deadline

Any unpaid extended health and/or dental care claims dated between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2019, that you would like reimbursed from your HSA must be received by Sun Life no later than 90 days after Dec. 31, 2019 – that is, Mar. 31, 2020. After Mar. 31, 2020, any 2019 extended health and/or dental claims will no longer be eligible for submission.

Your HSA can provide reimbursement for benefit expenses not covered by the Extended Health and Dental Care plans. You must apply for any unpaid expenses towards your HSA credits by submitting an Extended Health Claim Form or online via the Sun Life Plan Member website or through the Sun Life Mobile App.

Please note that the deadline for submitting HSA claims is different from the deadline for submitting claims under the Extended Health plan for reimbursement.

2020 HSA Credits

Management & Professional

On Jan. 1, 2020, you will receive your new annual HSA credit of $200. Your new credit will be updated on the Sun Life Plan Member website by Jan. 8, 2020.

Any unused HSA credit (up to $200) from Jan. 1, 2019, to Dec. 31, 2019, will be carried forward and must be used in the 2020 calendar year. Any unused credit (up to $325) from the 2018 calendar year will expire after Dec. 31, 2019.

CUPE 2950

Any unused HSA credits from Jan. 1, 2019, to Dec. 31, 2019, will be carried forward and must be used in the 2020 calendar year. Any unused credits from 2018 will expire after Dec. 31, 2019.

On Jan. 1, 2020, you will receive your new annual HSA credit of $125. Your new credit will be updated on the Sun Life Plan Member website by Jan. 8, 2020.

IUOE 115

Any unused HSA credits from Jan. 1, 2019, to Dec. 31, 2019, will be carried forward and must be used in the 2020 calendar year. Any unused credits from 2018 will expire after Dec. 31, 2019.

On Jan. 1, 2020, you will receive your new annual HSA credit of $1,100. Your new credit will be updated on the Sun Life Plan Member website by Jan. 8, 2020.

CUPE 116

Any unused HSA credits from Jan. 1, 2019, to Dec. 31, 2019, will be carried forward and must be used in the 2020 calendar year.

On Jan. 1, 2020, you will receive your new annual HSA credit of $350. Your new credit will be updated on the Sun Life Plan Member website by Jan. 8, 2020.

Leaving UBC?
