Updates to the Rent-Geared-to-Income housing program

The Rent-Geared-to-Income pilot program is now permanent with increased income thresholds.

The Rent-Geared-to-Income (RGI) program enables eligible participants to rent faculty and staff housing units on UBC Vancouver campus at a rate capped at 30% of their pre-tax household income. This program was created in an effort to make housing more affordable and accessible to UBC employees.

As part of the 10-Year Review of the UBC Housing Action Plan, the pilot RGI program has now been expanded and made permanent, effective April 1, 2025. In addition, income threshold limits have been increased as outlined in the table below, to further improve the affordability of Faculty Staff Rental Housing.
