As of August 1, 2023, eligible members of the Faculty benefits group will have access to 20 weeks of Supplementary Employment Benefit (SEB) instead of 10 weeks.
The SEB is used to top up the Employment Insurance benefit payments for eligible faculty members who are on parental/adoption leave up to 95% of a pre-leave salary – this is supplemental to the Federal Employment Insurance (EI).
The 20 weeks of SEB will apply for parental/adoption leaves that commence on or after August 1, 2023. Parental/adoption leaves that started prior to August 1st, 2023 will have access to 10 weeks of SEB.
