Event Highlight: January 20 Financial Wellbeing Masterclass with Vanessa Bowen from Mint Worthy

We are holding a free, online Financial Wellbeing masterclass with Vanessa Bowen from Mint Worthy on January 20, from 12 noon to 1 p.m. for all faculty and staff.

A goal without a plan is only a wish. So, how do you create a money plan and build financial habits that bring your goals to life?

It all begins with setting the right type of goals and then making simple shifts to the way you plan your money and your life. Your goals are within reach; once you create a plan that aligns with your financial goals, you can begin to take the actions that will lead to your financial dreams.

In this masterclass, participants will learn money management best practices including:

  • How to create financial goals that are easy to stick to and achieve

  • How to avoid common budgeting traps and create a budget that builds balance between wants and needs

  • Simple ways to reduce your debts immediately

  • How to create a savings plan that provides financial security and supports your short-term goals

  • How to set weekly ‘money dates’ to ensure you stick to your plan and remain committed to your dreams.

We are excited to share this opportunity because:

  • A majority of respondents from the February 2021 UBC IBPOC Survey on Wellbeing Supports were strongly interested in financial wellbeing learning opportunities.
  • 12% of staff and faculty self-reporting in the May 2021 Canadian Campus Wellbeing Survey indicated that financial concerns were the most important thing contributing to feelings of stress.
