Spring is like a breath of fresh air, with warmer weather and colourful blossoms erupting everywhere. As enjoyable as the season is, it can also usher in allergies. Naturopathic medicine can be an option for people looking for relief from allergies, seasonal or otherwise.
The UBC Extended Health Plan includes 80% coverage for naturopathic services up to a combined maximum of $500 for CUPE 2950 or $600 for all other UBC employee groups, for each person per benefit year. Naturopathic medicine is a system that uses natural remedies to help the body heal itself, and can be used for a wide range of issues like digestive problems, chronic pain, and hormonal imbalances.
Ensure that any Naturopath you see is licensed and registered with the College of Naturopathic Physicians of British Columbia as reimbursement is provided only if the Naturopath has an N.D (Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine) and applies reasonable and customary charges for services. A great resource to use to help locate a naturopath or other paramedical professional near you is the Lumino Health Centre in your UBC Sunlife Account.
The 80% paramedical coverage also extends to licensed speech therapists, acupuncturists, chiropractors, homeopaths, podiatrists, chiropodists, osteopaths, dieticians, audiologists, and occupational therapists.
