Modifications to the Academic Leadership Development Program for the 2023/24 program year

Subject: Modifications to the Academic Leadership Development Program (ALDP) for the 2023/24 program year

I am pleased to announce plans for strengthening and building on the solid foundation of the Academic Leadership Development Program (ALDP) program to better support academic leaders in the coming years.

In partnership with the Academic Director, Tom Scholte, and in collaboration with the ALDP Planning Team, the ALDP program will be enhanced through greater scaffolding of the curriculum and novel learning interventions. This will systematically and intentionally strengthen ALDP’s three “pillars”: technical management skills, relational leadership capacity, and fluency with the university’s strategic priorities, including the new Strategic Equity and Anti-Racism (StEAR) framework.

To support changes to the programming, ALDP will be modified in the 2023/24 program year to allow the Planning Team and our partners opportunities for creative thinking, designing, testing, and refining innovative leadership development opportunities. ALDP will continue to actively support new academic leaders during this transition period through targeted sessions and leadership coaching but will not be recruiting a full cohort. Communication will be sent out this summer about program activities and supports during the 2023/24 academic cycle.
