Limits for working off campus as an international student will revert to former restrictions of 20 hours per week after December 31, 2023.
International Students from Designated Learning Institutions (DLI’s) are generally restricted to working a maximum of 20 hours per week off-campus when their program is in session, and if they hold a valid Study Permit. In October 2022, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced the temporary lifting of the 20-hour-per-week cap to address labour shortages in Canada.
From November 15, 2022 to December 31, 2023, eligible international students can work unlimited hours off campus. This temporary measure is soon coming to an end and will terminate on December 31.
