This award recognizes organizations that are actively redefining what it means to create truly inclusive, accessible, and equitable workplaces.
UBC has been named the Diverse & Inclusive Champion—Public sector at the 2025 Untapped Workplace Inclusion Awards, held on September 19. Hosted by the Open Door Group, the Untapped Awards are one of British Columbia’s most meaningful celebrations of workplace inclusion and accessibility.
This year’s event brought together over 280 in-person guests and more than 500 virtual attendees to spotlight efforts that are breaking down barriers and building belonging across the province. The award recognizes UBC’s ongoing journey to ensure that everyone belongs in the workplace. The recognition highlights the work of UBC’s Centre for Workplace Accessibility (CWA), which offers services and resources aimed at enhancing accessibility and building disability literacy within the UBC community. From providing confidential support for disability-related concerns to developing accommodations, addressing ergonomic barriers, and supporting WorkSafe claims, the CWA redefines what it means to create a space where everybody belongs.
The award also recognizes the work of other units in HR, including the broader Workplace Health Services, Health & Wellbeing and Benefits teams, for their roles in uplifting cultural change, mental health support, and trauma-informed practices.
