Making improvements to our recruitment and onboarding processes in Workday

Enhancements are coming to select recruitment and onboarding steps in Workday.

We are excited to share that HR, in collaboration with the Integrated Service Centre, is currently undertaking a project to enhance select recruitment and onboarding (R&O) steps in Workday. The aim of this project is to improve the overall staff recruitment experience and streamline onboarding procedures for local units.

What’s happening?

Based on input from the HR Community and discussion of pain points within the existing Business Processes, we will be making small adjustments to some steps in the following staff processes:

  • Recruitment
  • Onboarding (payment and tax elections, benefits enrolment, and compliance training)
  • Direct Hire
  • Position Management

A select list of prioritized enhancements are scheduled to go live in Workday on August 4.

What does it mean?

In the short term, these enhancements will clarify our R&O processes, ensuring we are investing our time and resources appropriately. Over the long term, the enhancements will make it easier for HR and administrative staff to complete work with improved efficiency and effectiveness, and create the opportunity to focus on strategic rather than transactional work.

What’s next?

Details of the enhancements will be shared over the next few weeks, allowing you to familiarize yourself with the enhancements and prepare accordingly.

To support local units in their recruitment and onboarding practices, we are leveraging a network of Change Champions across the university. We encourage you to keep an eye out for communications from your dedicated Change Champion who will provide updates, resources, and support to help you navigate the upcoming changes.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your Change Champion or connect directly with the project team via Qualtrics.

Thank you for your input and participation throughout this enhancement process. We appreciate your commitment to our shared goal of continuous improvement.
