Salary increases for Faculty
Increases for Faculty Association Members
UBC's Faculty Association negotiates increases for members each year, with increases normally effective July 1.
Increase information is found in Part 2 of the Collective Agreement. For details on the salary increase process for bargaining unit members please refer to pages indicated in the sections below.
Salary increases for regular members
All of the following academic ranks are eligible for negotiated salary increases: professor, associate professor, assistant professor, acting assistant professor, assistant professor of teaching, associate professor of teaching, professor of teaching, lecturers, librarians and program directors.
Increases may include a general wage increase and amounts for the Career Advancement Plan (known as Progress Through the Ranks). Increases vary year to year and may include the following:
Salary increases for sessional lecturers
Sessional Lecturers are eligible for negotiated salary increases. Normally the increase is an “across the board” general wage increase.

Workday Reports
- FACULTY INCREASE - MERIT AND PSA SUMMARY FORM: This report provides a list of faculty members eligible for Merit and PSA as of the day the report is run.
- FACULTY WITH JOINT APPOINTMENTS BASIC: Provides a list of formal joint appointments at the time the report is run.
- ACADEMIC BARGAINING UNIT SALARY REPORT: Provides a list of individuals in bargaining unit positions. The report includes Union Membership so you can see you is member or is exempt from the Faculty Association.
- EMPLOYEES WITH UPCOMING TERM END DATE: Provides a list of those with position end dates and will help identify those in tenure or term position that need to be reappointed in order to be captured in the increase process.
- FACULTY SALARY INCREASE COMPONENTS: This provides a summary of the components that were loaded to the Personal>Additional Data tab in Workday. It can be run for any July 1 as far back as 2021. It captures individuals who have since left the University. It does not provide compensation information.
- FACULTY INCREASE SUMMARY FOR DEAN'S OFFICE: This report provides details on the components loaded and the change in compensation. This report should be run shortly after increases are loaded and it is not recommended to run this report retroactively as individuals who have left the University may not appear accurately.
