The Developing Leaders Program is back with a second cohort in 2025 – apply by September 12 for an October 2025 start.
The Developing Leaders Program (DLP) is a leadership development program for new and early-career managers, aimed at building their capacity to lead with greater confidence and effectiveness. This program is designed to equip newer leaders with the knowledge, skills, and practices necessary to lead, succeed and grow in their leadership roles at UBC.
This year the DLP is holding a second cohort, starting October 2025. This is the first time DLP will be running twice in the same year, and the program team is excited to be offering an extra cohort outside of the regular annual DLP cycle in order to meet the growing demand for this leadership program.
Building on the success of previous cohorts, the Developing Leaders Program continues to expand as a key leadership development offering at UBC. The DLP is open to Management & Professional (M&P) staff at the Vancouver campus who manage direct reports and have three years or less of team-leading experience.
Feedback from previous participants
Feedback from the January 2025 cohort highlights the program’s impact:
- 96% of participants reported an enhanced understanding of UBC’s leadership competencies and behaviours
- 93% indicated that the program expanded their understanding of what it means to lead in the UBC context
- 93% noted that participation deepened their self-awareness of their strengths and how they influence their leadership
