The workplace wellbeing team is excited to share four refreshed self-paced learning opportunities for faculty and staff.
The free courses provide new and engaging ways to integrate wellbeing information and ideas into your personal and professional life. We hope you find these courses valuable and that you consider sharing them with your colleagues because wellbeing is fundamental for all of us if we want to thrive.
Why now?
With the transition to online and remote work in 2020, a number of our existing in-person workshops and training courses were adapted and offered as asynchronous online training instead. Four years on, we felt that the content and the look and feel of these courses needed a refresh. We have reviewed past feedback on our courses, have weaved in our team’s renewed and intentional focus on health equity and considered how to update the courses for improved accessibility and engagement.
What to expect
- A new and engaging online platform (Rise 360 – Articulate)
- ~45min self-paced courses (choose your own adventure!)
- Increased interactivity (activities, knowledge checks, videos etc.)
- Intentional inclusion and exploration of de-colonial, trauma-informed, and anti-racist approaches to wellbeing, mental health, and self and community care.
- Foundational learning to ground and support your wellbeing learning path/journey at UBC
Find your path
Concepts like self-care, wellbeing, and burnout are relatively new, especially within the workplace. Whether you want to kick-start a personal and professional learning journey to support your wellbeing, or you’re interested in diving deeper into a specific topic, there is something for everyone regardless of your level of knowledge.
The basics of wellbeing and mental health
For those interested in a learning path, we recommend you start with Wellbeing Foundations. You can then move on to the development of your mental health literacy skills to support yourself and your team, by completing Mental Health 101.
Resilient communities
Next up, if you would like to support thriving and resilient individuals and campus communities, consider taking Self and Community Care or Preventing Burnout.
Our team wishes you an energizing and inspiring start to 2024!
