In this edition's Workday Corner, we highlight some of the most frequently asked questions the Integrated Service Centre and HR staff are responding to since Workday went live in November 2020.
- Information on UBC’s benefit plans: You can find detailed information about benefits eligibility and plan coverage for all of UBC’s benefit plans on the HR Website: UBC Benefits. Consider using the search window in the upper right-hand corner to help find the information you are looking for.
- Over-age dependents attending school full time: Confirmation of full-time student status is required annually, before the dependent’s birthday. You will receive a notification in your Workday inbox asking you to update your child’s student status in Workday. The notification is sent the month prior to your dependent’s birth month, at this stage you will need to confirm student status along with start and end dates. Please note that the Student Status End Date is the end of the month of your child’s next birthday or the end of the school term in which they complete their studies, whichever is earlier.
- Personal Health Number: Your Personal Health Number (PHN) is your unique ID number under the Medical Services Plan of BC. Sun Life requires all extended health plan members to have provincial health coverage, and you cannot enroll in UBC’s Extended Health Plan until you have added your PHN (or the equivalent health number for other provinces) in the personal information tab in Workday. If your PHN is not included in your personal information tab, you will not receive a notification to enroll in the extended health plan.
- Start and end dates for extended health and dental benefits: Extended health and dental are optional benefits. These benefits commence on your date of hire if you enroll within the 14-day enrolment period, or the date of enrolment if you enroll after. Extended health and dental coverage will end on the last day of the month in which your UBC employment ends or you are no longer eligible for the benefit.
