Register for the Pick Your Peak Stair Challenge by April 15

The Stair Challenge is Back!

Get ready to take on some serious elevation, because Pick Your Peak Stair Challenge for faculty and staff is from May 6- June 3, 2024. One of our most popular programs, Pick Your Peak has been delayed a few times as we have strived to find a more appropriate and safer time of year—we are glad to open the registration and get climbing.

Applications close on Monday, April 15 at 4pm.

Oh, and just in case you needed more incentive than improved health, and those all-important bragging rights, there are prizes handed out every week, and a grand prize for the top team and top climber!

Please consult with a physician before participating if you have any existing medical conditions.

What is the Pick Your Peak Stair Challenge?

  • Challenge period: May 6- June 3, 2024
  • Get into a team of 4-6 or be a solo climber;
  • Select an aspirational ‘peak’ you want to get to and track the number of stairs you climb each week.
  • You can also calculate other means of "climbing". If you are unable to take the stairs, for example, you can calculate a flight of stairs by converting every three minutes of physical activity.
  • Register: Team captains must register on behalf of team members or register as an individual by 4 pm on April 15, 2024

Please note you can only register as part of one team or as a solo climber, not both

Previous peaks

Our last Pick Your Peak Challenge participants had some game:

  • Collectively, we climbed 136,316 flightsthe equivalent of scaling Mount Everest 46.2 times!

  • 81 teams and 78 individual climbers participatedin total, we had 494 participants!

  • 129 participants joined us from the Okanagan Campus, that's over 25% of the total participants!

This year, we are aiming to crest Everest at least 50 times. Think you can help?

Moving throughout the day re-energizes our minds and bodies, and it is important to our wellbeing. And the best part? No equipment is needed and it is FREE! Grab some teammates or participate solo, as you work toward your movement goals. All abilities are welcome to participate.
