Opting out of Student Health Plan
With the rush of back-to-school activities, one item that may be overlooked is if your overage dependent child may opt-out of their post-secondary institution’s Student Health Plan. Opting-out means that your dependent child is declining coverage under their Student Health plan because they are still covered under their parent’s Extended Health and Dental Care plans.

Problematic substance use intervention pilot program available at UBC
Drug and alcohol use may be problematic when it negatively impacts a person’s health or quality of life. UBC HR has partnered with Boreal Wellness Centres Inc. to offer Resilient Living™ Recovery, a non-12 step, mindfulness-based addiction treatment program to help reduce or stop problematic substance use.

Virtual paramedical services now covered under Extended Health Plan
On March 23, 2020 virtual paramedical services are eligible for reimbursement under the extended health plan. The coverage amount of reimbursement remains the same as though the service was received in-person.
