UBC is committed to building mentally healthy workplaces where all employees can thrive.
Since 2015, we have been an active participant of the Canadian Mental Health Association’s Not Myself Today® (NMT) initiative. NMT is an evidence-informed, practical solution to help employers like UBC transform mental health at work.
This workplace mental health initiative has three main goals:
- Build greater awareness
- Reduce stigma
- Foster safe and supportive culture
NMT includes an online platform that provides guidance and support for UBC Ambassadors to roll-out digital toolkits and activities for employees and people managers. The online platform also includes learning tools and resources you can use to plan and implement the initiative. NMT can be integrated into your faculty, department or unit’s already existing mental health initiatives or rolled out any time of the year.
Register anytime for the Not Myself Today campaign!
If you are interested in becoming a NMT Ambassador for your workplace at UBC, start by completing the online registration form.
All registered NMT partners will be able to access digital and printable materials and activities provided through notmyselftoday.ca (Login details will be provided to those who register.) Physical materials are provided at cost ($200-300 is typically enough to cover the key materials).
If you have questions or would like to order materials, please contact Crystal Hutchinson.
About NMT
Each year, NMT kicks off during Thrive at UBC, an annual event to help everyone at UBC discover their path to mental health. Not Myself Today initiative was a strategic way for UBC workplaces to get involved with Thrive. See Module Details section below for more information about the initiative.
Before you register (and to help with planning)
Connect with your colleagues and department manager/supervisor to determine how you would like to engage with NMT. You can keep it very simple or do more based on the following considerations:
- Size of your department, unit or faculty
- How your faculty and staff members work, where they are distributed at UBC, and how you engage with them (e.g. in person, online, by email)
- Your capacity, time and resources available to lead or participate
- The expected engagement level within your department, unit or faculty
- How NMT integrates with your existing mental health supports
- Designating a workplace champion(s) or committee to plan, implement, and oversee the initiative
