Review frequently asked questions for Hybrid Work at UBC.
Q: I have an existing Hybrid Work Arrangement in Workday. Do I need to complete a new one?
A: If you have a current arrangement in place, you are not required to complete another one. However, if your hybrid work arrangement is changing from what was previously agreed to, or you are new, you are required to complete an updated arrangement in Workday. For guidelines on how to submit your request, visit the Hybrid work at UBC webpage.
Q: Are faculty part of the hybrid work program?
A: While the Hybrid Work Program applies to staff, faculty members who have always worked both on and off campus in fulfilling the commitments associated with their roles will continue to manage their work arrangements based on collegial discussions with their Heads, Directors, and Deans, outside of the Hybrid Work Program. However, it is important for faculty members and academic leaders to mirror the principles and guidelines of the Hybrid Work Program in their decisions, notably those that support wellbeing and equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Q: The hybrid work principles state that 100% remote work is not allowed at this time, however, I have an approved accommodation that requires it. How will that apply?
A: Where someone has an approved accommodation covered under a protected human rights ground (medical or other), the Hybrid Work Program will be modified as appropriate to meet the requirements of the accommodation and may be revised as those requirements change. All other guidelines of the Hybrid Work Program will continue to apply.
