Joint announcement from the University of British Columbia and the UBC Faculty Association

The following message is a joint announcement on collective bargaining from the University of British Columbia and the UBC Faculty Association, sent on behalf of Dory Nason, President, UBC Faculty Association and Deborah Buszard, Interim President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of British Columbia.

We are pleased to announce that the Collective Agreement between the UBC Faculty Association and UBC, July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2025, has been ratified by both parties with a ratification date of June 1, 2023. A copy of the Agreement will be posted to our respective websites once finalized.

The parties worked hard to achieve this Agreement and we believe it that contains many improvements that will benefit both the Faculty Association membership and the University. We would like to thank both negotiating committees for all their hard work and leadership. We look forward to continuing our work together.

Joint announcement on collective bargaining from UBC and the UBC Faculty Association

The following message is a joint announcement on collective bargaining from the University of British Columbia and the UBC Faculty Association, on behalf of Dory Nason, President, UBC Faculty Association, and Deborah Buszard, Interim President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of British Columbia. This announcement was sent to the UBC Executive, Provosts, Vice-Provosts, Deans, and Senior HR Leaders on May 2, 2023. 

We are pleased to announce that the Faculty Association and the University have reached a tentative Collective Agreement for period of July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2025. The University and the Faculty Association will now begin our respective ratification processes. 

We would like to thank our respective negotiating teams for all their hard work in achieving the tentative settlement.

Faculty bargaining update

The parties continued to meet through January and February and have currently paused negotiations.

Discussions between the parties continued through the fall of 2022. The parties met again last week (week of January 9, 2023). Follow-up dates are scheduled for the end of January and early February.

The parties met on June 13 to continue presenting and discussing proposals. Bargaining will break now for the summer, and will resume in September with bargaining dates set throughout the fall.

The parties met three times this week for bargaining sessions (May 24, 25, and 26), where they continued to exchange and discuss proposals.
