Expert second medical opinion and health navigation

The UBC Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) includes access to Novus Health, a network of medical and mental health specialists who can guide you through your treatment needs.

Eligible faculty, staff and their dependents can access Novus Health's Medical Second Opinion service by logging in to the UBC EFAP through the GreenShield+ platform.

This confidential service provides clarity, confidence and understanding if you or your eligible dependents have any concerns or doubts about a diagnosis, need help deciding on a treatment option or question the need for surgery and health navigation.

Use this service to:

  • Request a comprehensive review of your file from leading medical experts
  • Clarify a diagnosis: An expert team will review your file and provide an opinion, which may include suggested tests and examinations
  • Confirm or Modify a treatment plan:
    • Suggestions made to adjust the course of treatment if required
    • Identify potential therapies for more complex or treatment-resistant conditions
    • Identify new possible medications for complex or treatment-resistant conditions
  • Navigate to appropriate resources: referral to a specialist, support in finding a doctor, and navigating to their available health products and resources
